Temporal changes of taxonomic and functional diversity in dung beetles inhabiting forest fragments and pastures in Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve, Mexico

چکیده
We evaluated short- (among months within-years) and long-term (between 1999-2000 2016-2017) temporal patterns of taxonomic functional β- diversity (and its components substitution gain/loss) dung beetle assemblages in forest fragments pastures the Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve (LTBR). Habitat type affected dissimilarity richness difference component, with average values being respectively 1.42 1.56 times higher than fragments. Only habitat was important for richness, 1.93 1.69 2016-2017, respectively. Pastures were taxonomically functionally poorer but also more temporally dynamic both within-year between-years. is a determining factor dynamics, presenting stable cattle pastures.

The Effect of the Landscape Matrix on the Distribution of Dung and Carrion Beetles in a Fragmented Tropical Rain Forest
Understanding the response of species to anthropogenic landscape modification is essential to design effective conservation programs. Recently, insects have been used in empirical studies to evaluate the impact of habitat modification and landscape fragmentation on biological diversity because they are often affected rapidly by changes in land use. In this study, the use of the landscape matrix...
متن کاملNegative Impacts of Human Land Use on Dung Beetle Functional Diversity
The loss of biodiversity caused by human activity is assumed to alter ecosystem functioning. However our understanding of the magnitude of the effect of these changes on functional diversity and their impact on the dynamics of ecological processes is still limited. We analyzed the functional diversity of copro-necrophagous beetles under different conditions of land use in three Mexican biospher...
متن کاملRemoval rates of native and exotic dung by dung beetles (Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) in a fragmented tropical rain forest.
Many studies have evaluated the effect of forest fragmentation on dung beetle assemblage structure. However, few have analyzed how forest fragmentation affects the processes carried out by these insects in tropical forests where their food sources consist mainly of dung produced by native herbivore mammals. With the conversion of forests to pastures, cattle dung has become an exotic alternative...
متن کاملDung Beetles along a Tropical Altitudinal Gradient: Environmental Filtering on Taxonomic and Functional Diversity
Mountains provide an interesting context in which to study the many facets of biodiversity in response to macroclimate, since environmental conditions change rapidly due to elevation. Although the decrease in biodiversity with increasing elevation is generally accepted, our understanding of the variation of functional diversity along altitudinal gradients is still poorly known. The partitioning...

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
